"My dream is to contribute a culture of aesthetic mended fashion to the sustainability movement." - KASIA

Kasia Jamrozik is self-taught Polish fiber artist & seamstress, living in Helsinki since 2011. She’s an entrepreneur and teacher specialising in mending and handiwork.
Through the little business she founded - Upstitch Studio - she not only mends, sews and alters garments, but also teaches art of mending. She’s always open for commissions, cooperations and teaching opportunities. Her courses cover various mending, upcycling and sewing techniques, and are currently offered in Helsinki. She plans to make her courses and techniques available globally online soon.
Her dream is to contribute a culture of aesthetic mended fashion to the sustainability movement. She hopes to see a world where menders, restorers, crafters and artists from every field come together to teach handiwork and repair crafts.
She’s passionate about alternative fashion and sustainability, including restorations, repairs, mending, traditional outfits and old teddy bears making. She practices modern and old school mending and restoration techniques, delivering her sewing and alterations works with a refined finish. In her work she likes to use a wide variety of handiwork techniques like knitting, shuttle tatting, nålebinding and weaving, amongst others.
Her mending and textile journey was inspired by her grandmother and mom, whom she watched her whole life, mending everything from textiles, to random household objects, to appliances and furniture.
