ALINA ANANINA

CERAMICS ARTIST

Born in 1984 in Russia, the small town of Pereslavl-Zalessky.

I received my art education quite a long time ago, in 2003, and it was related to printing and packaging design. The most valuable thing I learned during my studies was the skill of contemplation and understanding of the essence of form and color. For a long time, art was just a small part of my life, a small hobby. Now I feel that creation is an important part of my self-awareness and it is almost impossible for me not to create.

I have always wanted to work with physical material, something that I can change with my own hands, give it a new form and turn it into a meaningful object.

Now I am a ceramicist and artist. I mainly create small forms, such as board games, small dishes and vases. In addition, from time to time, I take up paper and pencil and make sketches of future ceramic forms. These sketches sometimes become independent works. Ideas for my work are given to me by the material in my hands. It can be clay, porcelain, fabric, wood or paper. Something new is born out of nothing, out of chaos. And this is such a fascinating and inspiring transformation that brings great pleasure and fills me with energy and peace.

WATERCOLOR - URBAN SKETCHING

Originally from Australia and after having spent time living and working in Japan and the USA, I now call Finland home. Watercolour is my favourite medium to work in - the water is in a sense alive on the page and you have to negotiate with it to get the pigment to settle where you want it to. It feels like an emergency while I'm painting, and it's exciting and absorbing.

paint to share these experiences with you. Helsinki has beautiful scenes at every turn and it feels like I will never run out of inspiration as long as I live here.

I am available for commissions, and prints of my work are also available upon request.
